Profile Scheduler Settings

The Profile Scheduler Settings panel allows the user to define various criteria to control processing in Profile Scheduler.

  1. From the Profile Scheduler panel, select File, then click Settings. The Profile Scheduler Settings > General panel appears.
  2. Use the following table to enter data in the Profile Scheduler Settings > General panel:
  3. Field

    Description

    General Options:

    Process Timeout (minutes)

Specify the maximum time (in minutes) allowed for a job to run.

    Enhanced Logging

If selected, additional logging is recorded. For optimal processing, once an error has been resolved, it is recommended to clear the log file and, unselect the option (see Profile Scheduler View Log for more information).

  4. Use the following table to enter data in the Profile Scheduler Settings > Custom Table Loads panel:
  5. Field

    Description

    Data Replacement Threshold Options:

    Number of Existing Target Rows

Specify the minimum number of rows which must exist in the target table, in order for the system to determine whether or not to change the update order for more efficient processing.

Percent of New Rows to Existing Target Rows

Specify the minimum percent of new rows to existing target rows which must exist, in order for the system to determine whether or not to change the update order for more efficient processing.

Note: If processing a Custom Table Load job in update mode (for example, Replace Data option is not selected), the system copies the appropriate rows from the source table to a temporary table, then copies all rows from the target table which are not already in the temporary table, to the temporary table, then deletes the target table, and renames the temporary table to the new target table. If the number of rows in the target table are far greater than the number of rows in the temporary table, this method is inefficient. If the tables exceed the data replacement threshold options specified, the system will change the update direction and move the temporary table rows to the target table, rather than moving the target table rows to the temporary table.

  6. Use the following table to enter data in the Profile Scheduler Settings > Email panel:
  7. Field

    Description

    Email Options:

Set up email notifications for all Profile Scheduler jobs. Complete this configuration to enable task success and failure alerts.

    SMTP Options:

Connect to your SMTP mail server to send notifications. Enter server details, port, and credentials to activate email alerts for scheduled tasks.

    SMTP Mail Server

Specify the SMTP mail server to be used for email notifications when a job fails or succeeds.

    SMTP Sent "From" Address

Specify the "from" email address to be assigned to email notifications for failed jobs.

    SMTP Advanced Options (Optional):

Specify, if necessary, optional settings for the authentication account name and password, the SMTP port number, and SSL (Secured Socket Layer) support.

  8. The About panel displays insightsoftware's contact information. Click the Online Manuals link to access the online user manual.
  9. Click OK. The system processes the changes made in the current panel, then closes it.

Troubleshooting: Email Notifications Not Sending

Problem: Notification preferences are checked, however, emails are not received.

Solution: Verify the Email tab in Profile Scheduler Settings is properly configured with valid SMTP server details. This is a global setting required for all notification features.

How to verify: Go to Profile Scheduler Settings > Email tab and confirm all SMTP settings are filled in and test the connection.
