This topic describes the feature enhancements and resolved issues for Spreadsheet Server v25.1, released on March 19, 2025.

Spreadsheet Server v25.1 New Features

Title

Description

Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) Compatibility

With the 25.1 release, Spreadsheet Server is now compatible with Oracle ADW. Once connected, Spreadsheet Server supports all currently available functions with this ADW connection.

For detailed instructions on enabling support in the Application Configurator for Oracle ADW connections, refer to the Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) Support section.

Timestamp Formula for GXL Formulas

Spreadsheet Server 25.1 now includes a timestamp formula that logs the date and user for the last refresh of all GXL formulas in a sheet. This helps users ensure they are working with the latest data in their financial reports.

Key Benefits:

  • Tracks the last refresh time and user.

  • Ensures data accuracy.

Usage: Insert the timestamp using the Tools Dropdown Menu or the =SSTimestamp() formula.

For more details, refer to the Timestamp for GXL Formulas section.

AI Doc Assist Support for Legacy Users

Spreadsheet Server 25.1 introduces the AI Doc Assist feature for non-platform subscription customers. Upon upgrading, users will see the new "Lineos" icon in the ribbon, providing access to our AI Assistant. Lineos helps users quickly retrieve summarized answers from online documentation and knowledge base articles, enhancing onboarding and usability.

Key Points:

  • Available to non-platform subscription customers who upgrade to 25.1+.

  • Lineos icon appears in the ribbon for easy access.

  • Users can ask questions and receive summarized answers from documentation and support articles.

  • Non-platform perpetual/maintenance customers will see Lineos but will receive an error message indicating the feature is exclusive to subscription customers.

For more details, refer to the AI Doc Assist Support for Legacy Users section.

New Platform Login API Key

A new feature now allows the use of an API login key for the Profile Scheduler, ensuring uninterrupted operation despite the 30-day platform authentication requirement.

Benefits:

  • Seamless report distribution through the Profile Scheduler without authentication interruptions.

  • Guaranteed timely receipt of reports and successful distribution jobs.

For more details, refer to the Enable API Login Key for Profile Scheduler section.

Spreadsheet Server v25.1 Enhancements

Several enhancements have been implemented in Spreadsheet Server v25.1 to achieve Platform Data Sharing parity. These improvements collectively enhance functionality, user experience, and consistency across Platform. The following table lists the enhancements.

Title

Description

Summary Drill Down for GPXL Formula

The GPXL Summary Drilldown now prompts users to select columns instead of defaulting to the first two, ensuring parity with platform data sharing and enhancing customization. Additionally, it returns all segments in the Drill Down, much like a regular Drill Down, and works in both classic and new user interface.

Group by Segment forGPXL Formula

Now, the Group by Segment options dynamically reflect only the segments selected in the Summary Drill Down, ensuring consistency and improving user experience.

Business View (BV) Editor

The drag and drop functionality for keys and segments in the BV Editor has been successfully fixed. Users can now seamlessly drag and drop keys and segments as intended.

Adhoc and Journal Options in New Drill Down UI for GXL Formula

The new Drill Down user interface has been enhanced to display Adhoc and Journal options for the specific profile when users drill down into the first level.

GL Reporting Options

The checkbox for GXL: Platform Data Share has been removed from the old (current) settings user interface, as it has been implemented differently in the new UI.

Spreadsheet Server v25.1 Resolved Issues

Title

Description

Registry Value Retrieval

The issue where customers on 64-bit machines running 32-bit Excel could not retrieve the correct registry value for multitenancy has been resolved. The registry access logic has been updated to ensure accurate retrieval of values in this mixed environment.

Expanded GL Row Values

Incorrect values appeared on the Expanded GL Row when an empty string was converted to an empty cell in Oracle database. This issue has been resolved.

Query Designer

An issue was identified where Query Designer did not recognize full table names containing a decimal. This issue has been resolved, ensuring proper recognition of such table names.

Exclude Segment

An issue was identified where the exclude segment functionality was not working as expected. This issue has been resolved, ensuring the segment exclusion operates correctly.

Multi-column Drill Down with JDE Security

When JDE security was enabled, multi-column drill down operations would fail and produce an error. This issue has now been resolved, ensuring that drill down functionality works correctly with JDE security enabled.

Binding Variables in Application Configurator

An issue was identified where binding variables were ticked in the Application Configurator after installation. This issue has been resolved, ensuring proper configuration and functionality.

Convert formulas to values

The issue where the "Convert formulas to values" feature under the Tools option did not work properly, resulting in formulas not being converted to values, has been resolved. The functionality now ensures accurate conversion of Spreadsheet Server formulas to values.

Formula Values with Brackets

An issue was identified where users were not getting values when using brackets ‘[ ]’ in the formula. This issue has been resolved, ensuring that formulas with brackets now return the correct values.

Expand Segment

An issue was identified where segment values were missing in expanded columns, despite being included in other GXL formulas in the column. This issue has been resolved, ensuring that segment values are correctly displayed in all relevant columns.

Journal Entry Lines Drill Down

An empty grid was displayed for Journal Entry Lines Drill Down for Budgets, and the BOOK compare value in SQL was incorrect. These issues have been resolved, ensuring the grid displays correctly and the BOOK compare value is accurate.

Balance SQL Syntax

The SQL syntax for Balance SQL was incorrect when using a blank as criteria for a GXL. This issue has been resolved, ensuring accurate syntax and correct functionality.

GEXD Formula

Adding new fields to the query in GEXD caused shifts in column formatting for the target table. This issue has been resolved, ensuring that column formatting remains consistent when new fields are added.

GXL Formula

Range values did not work with specified @Fields. This issue has been resolved, ensuring that range values now function correctly with @Fields.

The segment field name was cut off in the GXL SQL statement. This issue has been resolved, ensuring that segment field names are fully displayed in the SQL statement.

Log Management

The issue with log management has been resolved:

  • On startup, the SpreadsheetServerLogs.db file will now be truncated to 500,000 rows. If the file contains fewer than 500,000 rows, truncation will be skipped.

  • Clicking Clear Logs will remove log files across all Spreadsheet Server applications, including Application Configurator and Query Designer.
